Comparison
MCAnalytics vs Plan (Player Analytics)
Plan (Player Analytics) is a free, open source plugin under LGPL-3.0 that runs its own web server next to your Minecraft server and keeps every record in your own database. It covers activity, playtime, sessions, join addresses, performance and data from more than 50 other plugins, on a long list of server platforms, as of September 2026. MCAnalytics is a hosted service, free up to 50 concurrent players and paid above that. A connector on your Velocity or BungeeCord proxy and your Paper servers records the address each player first joined through, whether they came back within seven days, and what they later spent in your stores, so you can judge creators and server lists by the players they kept. If you want free, self-hosted statistics about everything on your servers, pick Plan. If you want to know what each source was worth, that is the one job MCAnalytics is built for.
Side by side
| Topic | MCAnalytics | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free under 50 concurrent players, no card. Paid plans from $4.99 a month. | Free. Open source under LGPL-3.0. |
| Where it runs | Hosted by us. You install the connector, and it sends reports to mcanalytics.org over HTTPS. | On your own machine. A built-in web server shows the pages, and the data stays in your own database. |
| Database and ports | Nothing to set up. The connector only makes outbound requests, so no port is opened. | SQLite on a single server. A proxy network needs MySQL, plus an open port for the web server (8804 by default) or an existing web server. |
| Server software | Velocity, BungeeCord and Waterfall proxies, and Paper, Purpur, Folia and Spigot servers. | Spigot, Paper, Folia, Fabric, Sponge, BungeeCord, Velocity and their forks, from one jar. |
| Join addresses | The first address a player joins through is kept for life, and every report can be split by it. | Listed on its site, next to geolocation and ping, as a way to see which efforts bring players. |
| Return rate per join address | A 7-day return rate for every join address, and Day 1, Day 7 and Day 30 on the Retention page, where Day 7 is the seventh day only. Open windows read Pending, not 0%. Cohort tables by day, week or month and a churn risk list with reasons are on Network and up. | Not listed. Its site lists new player retention for the server. |
| Tebex revenue per join address | Tebex, CraftingStore, your own PayPal or Stripe, and more than one store at once, each on a signed webhook. A purchase is matched on the buyer's premium UUID only, never the username, and credited to the address they first joined through. Refunds and chargebacks are taken off. | Not listed. Tebex / Buycraft is on its supported plugins list. |
| Bedrock and cracked players | Premium Java, cracked Java and Bedrock are kept apart and never merged by username. Bedrock is matched on the Floodgate XUID. | Floodgate is on its supported plugins list. Cracked player handling is not listed. |
| Server performance | TPS, MSPT, memory and online count for every server, every 10 seconds by default. | Multi-server performance metrics, per its site. |
| Anti-cheat bans by source | Confirmed GrimAC and Polar bans per join address, with bans per 100 new players, from the Network plan up. | Not listed |
| Other plugins | Tebex, CraftingStore, Floodgate, nLogin, NuVotifier, WorldGuard, GrimAC and Polar. PayPal and Stripe webhooks for your own checkout. | More than 50 plugins, listed on its wiki. |
| Source code | The loader is open source on GitHub. The dashboard is not. | The whole project is open source on GitHub. |
Where Plan is the better pick
- You want to pay nothing, at any size. Plan is free and has no paid tier.
- Your data has to stay on your own machine. Plan keeps it in your own database and serves the pages from your own server.
- You run Fabric or Sponge. MCAnalytics supports Velocity, BungeeCord and Waterfall proxies, and Paper, Purpur, Folia and Spigot servers.
- You want detail from inside other plugins. Plan reads data from more than 50 of them, and players can open their own profile page.
- You want to read, change or extend the code. Plan is open source under LGPL-3.0 and has a public API.
- You want something mature and actively maintained. Version 5.8 build 3638 was published on Modrinth on 5 September 2026.
Where MCAnalytics is the better pick
- You pay creators or server lists and need to know what each one returned: first joins, 7-day return rate and Tebex revenue for every address, on one row.
- You would rather not run a database, open a port or keep a web server patched. The dashboard is hosted and the connector only makes outbound requests.
- You run cracked Java next to premium Java and Bedrock. The three stay apart, nobody is merged by username, and on a network with nLogin only a confirmed login counts as a return.
- You need Tebex revenue you can hand to a partner: matched on the premium UUID only, counted once however many servers a package applies to, with refunds and chargebacks taken off.
- You want to see which sources bring cheaters. Confirmed GrimAC and Polar bans are listed per join address, next to the new players each one brought, from the Network plan up.
- Your team needs a login with owner, admin and viewer roles instead of access to the server box.

Questions
Is Plan really free?
Yes. As of September 2026 Plan is open source under LGPL-3.0 and lists no paid tier. The cost is the machine it runs on, an open port for its web server, and a MySQL database if you run a proxy network.
Can I run Plan and MCAnalytics on the same network?
Yes. They are separate plugins that keep separate records, so one does not change the other. Plan answers what happens on your servers, and MCAnalytics answers where players came from and what they were worth.
Plan records join addresses too. What does MCAnalytics add?
For each address it shows the players whose first join came through it, how many came back within seven days, and the Tebex revenue they brought, with refunds taken off. Plan's pages do not list those per address as of September 2026.
Does MCAnalytics need a proxy?
No. On a single Paper, Purpur, Folia or Spigot server the connector runs in standalone mode and records sessions and join addresses itself. On a network, the Velocity or BungeeCord connector does that job for every backend.
